At 9010novantadieci, we believe that light is an integral part of architecture: our LED lamps, born from continuous research into design and materials, are created to harmoniously integrate into spaces.
This is why we collaborate daily with architects and designers, supporting them through every phase of the lighting project.
Why a lighting design project makes the difference
Good lighting means:
enhancing architecture and materials;
ensuring visual comfort and functionality in every area;
giving character and personality to spaces.
A carefully studied project is what distinguishes a bland environment from a space where people truly feel good. Moreover, choosing high-quality LED solutions like those from 9010novantadieci means investing in durability, efficiency, and sustainability, without sacrificing beauty.
The key steps to designing interior lighting
Every great lighting project starts with a deep understanding of the space and its purpose. It’s not just about picking beautiful lamps, but about integrating light into the very fabric of the environment.
Analysis of the space and its needs
The starting point is always a functional analysis: how will the space be used? What activities will take place there?
A kitchen, a living room, or an office each require different levels and types of lighting. At this stage it is important to consider:
- the dimensions and heights of the room;
the predominant colors and materials;
the presence of windows and their orientation.
Another question to ask is: who will use the space? The needs of a home differ from those of an office or a shop, just as the requirements for children differ from those for the elderly.
Defining the project objectives
With the preliminary analysis in hand, we can clearly define the goals of our lighting project:
- create a specific atmosphere: warm and welcoming, dynamic and stimulating, elegant and sophisticated;
ensure visual comfort: avoid glare, excessive shadow areas, and eye strain;
highlight elements: focus attention on artworks, architectural details, or displayed products;
optimize energy efficiency: reduce consumption and environmental impact without compromising light quality.
Defining lighting levels
Light is not a single entity but manifests in different forms, each with a specific purpose:
general lighting, to ensure uniformity;
accent lighting, to highlight architectural details or artworks;
task lighting, aimed at specific operational areas (worktops, desks).
This mix creates depth and makes the space dynamic, avoiding the flat effect of a single, uniform light.
Choosing the lighting fixtures
At this point, we move from theory to practice, selecting the lamps to bring the project to life. The choice is truly wide and, as mentioned, must align with the defined needs and objectives.
For diffuse and uniform lighting, ceiling LED fixtures or wall sconces can be considered. If, on the other hand, a nearly invisible lighting effect is desired, LED profiles or recessed spotlights are the ideal solution. During selection, it is essential to evaluate the light output, including color temperature, power, and beam angle. Our collections offer extensive customization possibilities to meet every lighting design need.

Positioning and lighting calculations
This is the most technical phase, where the vision turns into precise layouts. It’s not enough to simply “place a light there”; it’s necessary to study the strategic positioning of the lamps to achieve the desired effects.
Lighting calculation software is used to simulate light distribution, verify illumination levels (lux) at every point in the space, and prevent annoying glare. Wiring schemes and the exact arrangement of each light point are defined.
Installation and fine-tuning
The final phase is the physical implementation of the project. Careful supervision of the installation is essential to ensure everything is executed to perfection.
Once installed, it’s important to check the lighting performance on site, making any minor adjustments needed to ensure that the final result matches the initial vision exactly.
At 9010novantadieci, we are proud to be trusted partners for architects and designers seeking cutting-edge lighting solutions with a strong aesthetic impact.
Each of our lamps is the product of Italian design tradition, synonymous with elegance, attention to detail, and quality materials. Our creations are not just sources of light, but true works of art that enrich any environment.
We know that every project is unique. That’s why we support professionals by offering the possibility to create bespoke solutions, adapting our lamps to the specific needs of each context, from residential to commercial, hospitality to contract projects.
A concrete example: lighting at Panorama Apartment
To illustrate how our solutions come to life in a real context, consider the renovation project of Panorama Apartment, a tourist apartment in the heart of Bologna. The goal was to enhance the large terrace and veranda with a view, making the exterior the true protagonist and the interior a space to admire it from.
To achieve this, Cassiopea and Cassiopea Double recessed spotlights were chosen to provide discreet yet targeted general lighting, Keid profiles to create clean, linear light cuts, and Cuori XL ceiling lamps for diffuse and elegant illumination.
In the bathroom, integrating LED lighting with chromotherapy allowed the creation of engaging, variable evening atmospheres, completing a design that plays on contrasts and highlights architectural features.
The result is an elegant, sophisticated environment where natural and artificial light blend to create a unique living experience.
